Its funny how young girls look up to models as someone they look up too, when these “role models” aren’t even real. Today almost anything that you see on television, movies and magazines are not what they appear to be. The new thing is airbrushing models to make them appear more ”beautiful”. These magazine editors portray beautiful as looking anorexic and unhealthy. This is not something that young children, pre-teens and teenagers should not be looking up too.
The British Fashion Council in London is trying to ban the use of photo shopping images. There are so many things today that can be changed digitally. For example, Photographs of actress Kate Winslet were enhanced before they appeared on the cover of GQ magazine. The actress says, “I don’t have any tits”. She isn’t the only one; actresses like Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, Mariah Carey and Penelope Cruz have been photo shopped.
By showing many girls all over the world what these celebrities look like, it makes them think that is the way they should look. These young girls reading magazines and watching tv are starting to lack self-confidence, as they can also be tracked back to eating disorders in girls as young as 10, depression, and feelings of low self-esteem. This is not how role models should be. These magazines need to stop changing how people look and show the real people that these celebrities really are.
Nobody wants an anorexic and unhealthily role model. Kids today want someone real, not fake. If you don’t have huge boobs WHO CARES. If you aren’t that “skinny” and have a little baby fat WHO CARES. Everyone should embrace there true self no matter how fat or skinny, or big or small they really are. Photo shopping should be banned from all media! Without it the kids of the next generation will become all fucked up.
